Likely root causes

  1. The number-range interval was not created for the new fiscal year.
  2. The assigned interval is exhausted.
  3. The document type points to an incorrect or missing number-range key.

What to inspect

  1. Document type and fiscal year.
  2. FBN1 — number-range interval for the company code/year.
  3. Document-type configuration and assigned interval.

Resolution path

  1. Confirm the document type should use the configured interval.
  2. Create/carry forward the approved fiscal-year interval or extend the exhausted range according to controls.
  3. Do not overlap intervals or reset live number ranges.
  4. Post a test document and verify sequential assignment.
