Inbound IDoc process code not found or not assigned

Inbound IDoc cannot be passed to the application because no valid process code is assigned for the partner/message type.

Likely root causes

  1. WE20 inbound parameter has no process code or the wrong one.
  2. Process code definition is missing/inconsistent in the target system.
  3. Partner profile points to a process code not intended for the IDoc basic type.

What to inspect

  1. WE20 inbound parameter process code.
  2. WE42 process-code definition and linked processing logic.
  3. IDoc message type/basic type in WE02.

Resolution path

  1. Assign the approved process code to the inbound partner parameter.
  2. Correct/transport the process-code definition if missing.
  3. Do not reuse a process code from another business message merely to make processing start.
  4. Reprocess a test IDoc and verify the created application document.
