IDoc segment is not defined or not allowed

IDoc syntax check or inbound processing rejects a segment because it is unknown, inactive or not valid at that position in the declared type.

Likely root causes

  1. Custom segment definition is missing in the target system.
  2. Segment exists but is not included in the active basic type/extension.
  3. Middleware emits a segment for the wrong IDoc version or hierarchy position.

What to inspect

  1. Segment name and hierarchy in the failing IDoc.
  2. WE31 segment definition.
  3. WE30 basic type/extension structure and segment position.
  4. Sender/receiver release and mapping version.

Resolution path

  1. Correct the payload to the receiver's active IDoc structure.
  2. Transport/activate the required custom segment and extension if legitimately missing.
  3. Do not edit productive IDoc segment structures directly to fit one message.
  4. Retest syntax and application processing.
