Batch is required for the material

MIGO, delivery or production goods movement cannot be posted because a batch-managed material has no valid batch assignment.

Likely root causes

  1. The material is batch managed and no batch was entered/determined.
  2. Batch determination did not find an eligible batch.
  3. The referenced batch does not exist or is not valid for the plant/storage location.

What to inspect

  1. Material batch-management indicator.
  2. Batch field on the document and MSC3N batch master.
  3. Batch determination strategy/condition records when automatic determination is expected.
  4. Stock by batch in MMBE.

Resolution path

  1. Enter/select the correct existing batch or create one through the approved process when appropriate.
  2. Fix batch determination master/configuration if automatic selection should occur.
  3. Do not switch off batch management to bypass a single posting.
  4. Retest quantity, status and shelf-life rules.
