qRFC CPICERR

qRFC queue stopped with CPICERR

SMQ1 or SMQ2 shows CPICERR because communication to the RFC target failed or the qRFC runtime treated the call as a temporary communication failure.

Likely root causes

  1. The RFC destination is unavailable or logon/network communication failed.
  2. The target system or gateway is temporarily unreachable.
  3. The application intentionally requested a retry using qRFC restart behavior for a temporary condition.

What to inspect

  1. SM59 — connection and authorization test for the RFC destination.
  2. SM21 and RFC/gateway traces for the failure timestamp.
  3. SMQ1/SMQ2 error text and queue registration/scheduler status.
  4. Target-system availability and user credentials used by the destination.

Resolution path

  1. Restore connectivity or correct the RFC/logon problem.
  2. If the application requested a temporary retry, follow the application-specific recovery path.
  3. Allow the registered scheduler/retry mechanism to process the queue after the cause is fixed.
  4. Verify ordered queues process successfully before closing the incident.
