SAP user lock
User locked due to failed logon attempts
SAP logon fails because the user is locked after repeated incorrect password attempts or an administrative lock.
Likely root causes
- Wrong password is repeatedly used by the person, RFC destination, job or external integration.
- User was locked manually by an administrator.
- Stored credentials in a technical connection became stale after password change.
What to inspect
- SU01 user lock status.
- SM20/security audit or relevant logon history if enabled.
- SM59/jobs/interfaces that use the same technical user.
- Credential vault/connection settings outside SAP.
Resolution path
- Identify and stop the source of repeated bad logons before unlocking.
- Unlock/reset credentials through the authorized identity process.
- Update all technical destinations that use the changed password.
- Verify the account does not relock after recovery.
