Customer is not maintained for sales area

Sales-order or billing creation fails because the customer/business partner has no valid sales-area data for the requested sales organization, distribution channel and division.

Likely root causes

  1. Customer/BP was not extended to the sales area.
  2. Order/interface contains the wrong sales area.
  3. Master-data replication created general data but omitted sales-area data.

What to inspect

  1. Sales area in the order or payload.
  2. BP/customer sales-area roles and data.
  3. Replication/CVI status when master data comes from another system.

Resolution path

  1. Correct the sales area if the document is wrong.
  2. Extend the BP/customer to the required sales area through approved master-data governance.
  3. Fix replication if sales-area data should already exist.
  4. Retest partner determination, pricing and shipping.
