SM59 RFC logon

RFC destination logon failed

SM59 or an application RFC call reaches the target but logon fails for the configured user/client/credentials.

Likely root causes

  1. Password/credential is wrong or expired.
  2. RFC user is locked, inactive or not valid in the target client.
  3. Destination points to the wrong client/system or uses an unsupported logon setup.

What to inspect

  1. SM59 connection and authorization/logon test details.
  2. SU01 status of the RFC user in the target client.
  3. Destination client/user and secure credential configuration.
  4. Security audit log for failed logons when enabled.

Resolution path

  1. Correct credentials/client/user through the approved technical-account process.
  2. Unlock/reactivate the user only after the bad-logon source is understood.
  3. Avoid embedding personal-user credentials in technical destinations.
  4. Retest both connection and the actual RFC business call.
