Sales order creation or the Sales Order API returns V1/382 because the material is not defined for the requested sales organization/distribution channel.

Likely root causes

  1. The material has not been extended to the requested sales organization/distribution channel.
  2. The request contains the wrong sales area.
  3. Sales views exist for the material but not for the exact organizational combination used by the order.

What to inspect

  1. MM03 — sales views for the exact sales organization and distribution channel.
  2. Sales-order header sales area or API request values.
  3. Material sales-area data required by the order process.

Resolution path

  1. Confirm the sales area in the order is correct.
  2. If correct, extend the material to that sales organization/distribution channel through the approved master-data process.
  3. Complete mandatory sales-area data.
  4. Retry the sales order or API request and confirm material determination/pricing proceeds.
