T-Codes3
- CJ20NCJ20N, the Project Builder, is the hierarchical editor used to create and change a project's structure - project definition, WBS elements, networks, activities, relationships and milestones - in a single tree view with a single save and a single lock. Most confusion traces back to that single-save behavior: one failing branch in the tree can block or silently partial-commit an otherwise correct edit.
- CJ88CJ88 executes actual settlement for one WBS element or project, posting the costs collected on it to the receivers defined in its settlement rule - typically an asset under construction, cost center, order, or profitability segment. It creates real CO and, where relevant, FI documents. Run it in test mode first; the residual left after a run usually means the settlement rule is incomplete.
- CJI3CJI3 is used to display actual project/WBS cost line items with document, cost element and sender/receiver detail. It is most useful when project controllers need to reconcile WBS actual costs, investigate unexpected postings or support settlement. Start from the exact business object, organizational scope and status, then prove the result through document flow, logs or master data before applying a corrective action.
Key Tables5
- PROJPROJ stores one row per project definition, the top-level header of a Project System hierarchy. It holds the external project ID, the internal number, organizational assignment such as company code and controlling area, the person responsible, and the object number used for status management. It does not hold WBS element data, cost, or budget figures - those sit in PRPS and the CO/budget tables underneath.
- PRPSPRPS stores one row per WBS element, the basic master data record for a work breakdown structure item: its external identifier POSID, its internal number PSPNR, the project it belongs to via PSPHI, organizational assignments, the responsible person, and the object number used to link to status, cost, and budget tables. It holds no cost or budget values itself.
- PRHIPRHI is the internal hierarchy pointer table for Project System WBS elements. It stores each WBS element's position in the project tree - its level and links to the parent and sibling nodes - so the system can navigate the structure quickly without recalculating it from PRPS every time. It carries no business data; PRPS and PROJ hold that.
- BPGEBPGE stores overall-value totals for Controlling, Project System, Investment Management, and related planning or budgeting objects. The meaning of a row depends on object number, value type, version, currency type, and business process. SAP documentation describes BPGE as the totals table for overall values; it is not specifically a PS cost-planning total per cost element.
- BPJABPJA stores annual-value totals for Controlling, Project System, Investment Management, and related planning or budgeting objects. It is the annual-value counterpart to BPGE overall values and BPPE period values. The row meaning depends on object number, fiscal year, value type, version, and currency; it should not be described as only project-budget totals.
